Iranian footballer, Amir Nasr-Azadani is facing ex£c¥tion for supporting women’s rights protests in the country
The international players union confirmed this in a statement on December 12
“FIFPRO is shocked and sickened by reports that professional footballer Amir Nasr-Azadani faces ex£c¥tion in Iran after campaigning for women’s rights and basic freedom in his country
We stand in solidarity with Amir and call for the immediate removal of his punishment,” the statement read
IranWire reports that the 26-year-old who most recently played for Tractor in the Persian Gulf Pro League, has been accused of ‘moharebeh’, or ‘animosity with God’
Adding that the player’s family have been thr£atened repeatedly by the Iranian authorities
