Dr. Abdul Azeez Olajide Adeniran (Jandor) the former Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate at the 2023 general election has stated his resolve to team up for the retention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presidency come 2027.
Jandor made the declaration during his official visit to the Lagos State All Progressives Congress on Tuesday, he was warmly received by the party’s state executive council led by the state Chairman Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi.
In what appears a reunion, the young and vibrant Dr. Adeniran stated unequivocally that he is fully back to the fold with all his Lagos 4 Lagos team, particularly to ensure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu retains the presidency seat in the 2027 general election.
“This is not our declaration programme, this is just to come and formerly inform you of our decision to return home.
“You have continued winning for the state, so anything outside that just refers to Oroki Social Club,we are happy to come back to the winning family.
“You might be wondering why it has to take up to two years before we staged a comeback, just that you know Jandor is a man of conviction.
“I don’t just follow the crowd, leaving APC in the year 2022, to joining PDP, that was someone looking for a platform to express our can-do- ability and to the glory of God we were able to tell the whole world, what we can do and what we represent and we want to thank you for also putting us on our toes during the electioneering process
“Now it is my pleasure to inform you officially that not only that we have returned home but with lots of booties, just like I have been saying the most important thing on the agenda for us is to be able to see how we can retain the centre and that is our priority.
“Retaining the centre means that the gang up that is going around the country in the name of coalition is one of the reasons why Jandor had to pull out of that, is to look at the Yoruba saying that –(Omo eni oni se idi bebere kafilekesidi omo elomiran) charity they say starts from the homefront.
“So, our focus, knowing fully well that it is God who crowns one eventually,is to bring our numerical strength to join the party and be able to canvass support from everywhere across the country, stop the brewing gang up in form of coalition and ensure Mr. President returns to the office in 2027.
“That is number one on our agenda, every other thing is secondary. Whatever it is anybody wants to do this time around we are ready to abide by the party’s decision.
“On whoever that will be running at whatever level in the state and we are going to do everything humanly possible to support whoever the party decides.”
He also hinted that come 2027 he would tilt towards the decision of the party as regards his governorship bid.
“We have chosen this path and we are not deviating, we will continue to exercise our constitutional right to be part of the process. In 2027 the only thing that will be different to that of 2023 is that whoever the party decides that this is the person we are pushing forward is the person we will support, but for the records I have not said and this is not saying that I am pulling out of the race
Jandor however, reiterates the plan to fully reintegrate himself into the APC fold in the same loud manner he left in 2022.
In his response Hon. Ojelabi affirms the poise of the party to readmit Jandor into their midst, while adding that the whole 57 Local Government and LCDAs party chairmen were carried along about the huge win for the party, insisting that the 2023 general elections poor record need be erased in 2027.
“We want to maximize this opportunity to attract development to lift our people from the poverty level, today as chairman of all the chairmen I have to thread cautiously owing to the report that afterall he did not deliver now and if we too did not deliver you will not have the presidency.
“With you people coming on board I am sure we will be able to erase that particular record at subsequent election.
For Jandor it has been the of philosophy of making a contribution to the growth and development of Lagos state, an mpactful stance.
“When he called me about coming home I got the filler from the villa. I noted the short time as basis for my absence.
“We are particular about the growth and welfare of our people believing that what God almighty has done for us, how do we reciprocate and protect it? Political power comes first and other things will come on board.
“When he left it was tough, people felt it was going to create a serious crisis within the ojo polity but God gave us wisdom to navigate that course which made it very easy when he indicated coming back home.
“He did extended material support to our followers. Jandor made a valid point we have never lost any election since 1999 until 2023. Asiwaju changed the fate of council, public office holders at that level have increased to well over 800 all thanks to his ingenuity.
“Jandor has not contested before but he went in, in 2023. We have been cracking heads not to have a repeat of such in 2027.
“It was after 30years after Awo that Abiola came, after 30years again Asiwaju came.
“As a true son of the soil, you have a role to play to ensure the basket is filled with the fruits.
“You have taken the right step and Asiwaju is a special person, check his trajectory that those who contested with him the moment they cross over, the past is forgotten.”
“The Chair of chair insisted that we must do this though I told him this week is a very busy week, local government election is not an election you can paly with but he insisted that let us do it anyhow and I am happy the Chairman of all chairmen are here, we will communicate this your reunion to all LGA chairmen.
He hinted further that after the screening exercise, “there we will fix a stakeholders meeting where we will be able to announce to the entire members of APC, that from today the 29th of April 2025 our darling brother Dr. Olajide Adeniran popularly known as Jandor is a full member of our party.
“I want to thank you for bring very very prominent, notable politicians back to the party, on behalf the governor of the state, the President has made a commitment and as the Chairman of the party in Lagos state.
“ I want to assure you that this particular step you have taken will be fruitful, I told Mr. Governor yesterday that our team work will do the wonders.
“The largesse at the federal level is huge so let’s team up and make it work, we will reap the benefit. Asiwaju is wisely handling the situation he can not just put anyone anywhere but if you work assiduously I am very sure definitely you will get there.
The Vice Chairman of the party Hon Mayegun Moshood was quick to add that Jandor’s return as thoroughbred Lagosian will restore the prestige of every true Lagosian.
“We are happy to welcome you as the number of our membership has increased with the calibre of people you brought in.
“What I love about Jandor is that he is a person so passionate about Lagos as a Lagosian, our chairman is also a true Lagosian and for Jandor to now join it means our ego will increase.
“You are in the right place.
For the party’s publicity secretary Mr. Seye Oladejo, the strength of the opposition party whittles down massively with Jandors reunion back into the APC fold adding that the opposition will only struggle as they clearly will have no governorship candidate to field in coming election.
