Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku has been tipped to return to Stamford Bridge this summer as Thomas Tuchel remains eager to bolster his attacking options ahead of his first full season in charge at Chelsea.

National Daily learned that the Serie A champions, Inter Milan have previously rejected Chelsea’s opening offer of €100m (£85m) which included Spanish full-back, Marcos Alonso, as a potential makeweight for the Belgium international.

Meanwhile, new report reaching National Daily suggests that the Stamford Bridge club is ready to step up the pursuit of their former striker and with the intention to release Tammy Abraham to create room for Lukaku.

It has been reported that the west London club is preparing a new and improved bid up to €130 million (£111m/$154m) for the former Manchester United forward.

Chelsea are hoping that Inter will likely accept a fee within that region for Lukaku considering their attempt to navigate their way through their financial crisis.

It is believed that a potential return of the 28-year-old Belgium all-time top scorer is strongly based on the final negotiations on the structure of the deal. Meanwhile, plans are already being made for his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

It is understood that while Chelsea are attempting to free up space for Lukaku with Abraham’s position, they want to also use the opportunity to raise fund for re-signing of the Belgian.

Sequel to the above, the Blues would prefer that Abraham departs on a permanent basis, and they would like to earn around £40m ($56m) from his sale.

National Daily recalls that Lukaku’s first spell at Chelsea between 2011 and 2013 saw him fail to score a single goal in 15 senior appearances, but he went on to establish himself as one of the top forwards in the Premier League at Everton.

Lukaku went ahead to register 42 goals in 96 games during his stay at Old Trafford when he was snapped up by Manchester United in 2017.

The Red Devils took the decision to sell Lukaku to Inter for £74m ($103m) in the summer of 2019, and he has taken his game to new heights in Italy, recording 64 goals in 95 appearances while becoming a Serie A title winner.

There is no doubt that Lukaku’s potential reunion with Chelsea will help fortify their attack as they will be bound to enjoy the services of a far more experienced player than the one they had 10 years ago, and his presence could prove crucial as Tuchel’s side aim to fight for the Premier League title in 2021-22.
