Just in: Tinubu redeploys Momoh as Niger Delta minister

President Bola Tinubu has approved the redeployment of Abubakar Momoh from the federal ministry of youth to the ministry of Niger Delta development.

According to a statement on Sunday by Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Tinubu also redeployed Adegboyega Oyetola as the minister of marine and blue economy.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu also reassigned some portfolios, including Adegboyega Oyetola as minister of marine and blue economy, and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo as minister of interior.

Meanwhile, both ministers of state in the oil and gas sector are now domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources with the following designation; Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri – Hon. Minister of State (Oil), Petroleum Resources Ekperipe Ekpo – Hon. Minister of State (Gas), Petroleum Resources.

President Tinubu also approved the renaming of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management as the Federal Ministry of Environment.

Before his appointment by President Tinubu,  Momoh climbed the political ladder, eventually becoming the chairman of his home council after its split in the 90s. Alongside his political aspirations, Hon. Engr. Abubakar Momoh had a passion for education and served as a teacher at Ekperi Grammar School before pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering at the prestigious University of Benin (UNIBEN).

During his time at UNIBEN, he also took part in student politics, becoming the influential Students’ Union president, further fueling his dedication to public service. In 1999, he took the bold step of joining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and successfully represented Etsako East in the Edo State House of Assembly.

His political acumen and commitment to the betterment of his constituency led him to national politics, where he served as a member of the House of Representatives for Etsako Federal Constituency.
