The Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumable Supply Agency has expressed its commitment to partnering with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Bayero University Kano (BUK) to boost training and research in drug manufacturing.
The Director-General of the agency, Mr. Gali Sule, made this announcement on Thursday during a courtesy visit by Gidado Yusuf, the First Vice-President of the National Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP).
The visit aimed to strengthen existing collaborations between the agency and the association.
According to a statement from the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Farouk Musa, Sule revealed that the agency is currently upgrading its drug manufacturing unit with plans to obtain certification from regulatory bodies such as the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

“The manufacturing facility will operate according to standard procedures, complementing the private sector to produce drugs and conduct quality control testing on procured drugs,” Sule said.
“The agency will also offer industrial training opportunities for students from various tertiary institutions, particularly Bayero University Kano.”
In his remarks, Yusuf expressed the association’s support for the agency’s efforts, pledging to assist in helping the agency fulfill its mandate.
