The Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Salisu Yahaya Hotoro, has vowed that the people of Kano will soon learn the identities of those he described as having “betrayed” public trust.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Hotoro wrote, “The people of Kano will soon know those who are truly committed to protecting their interests,” emphasizing that accountability will be brought to the forefront amid ongoing political controversies.

He referenced several contentious issues, including matters related to Novemed, foreign scholarships, alleged land racketeering, contracts for alum and other water treatment chemicals, and the procurement of water facility equipment. Hotoro suggested these disputes were central to the current disagreements within party leadership.

Accusing some individuals of using “betrayal” as a cover for their own questionable actions, Hotoro added, “Since they cannot come out to tell the world what they did, we will tell the world, so that the people can judge between us and them,” posting the statement in Hausa.

The comments follow former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s declaration of January 23 as “World Betrayal Day,” made during an address to supporters at his Miller Road residence in Kano. Kwankwaso’s remark was inspired by a social media post framing Governor Yusuf’s exit from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as an act of betrayal.

Hotoro’s post signals an intensification of the political discourse in Kano, as factions within the party trade accusations over loyalty, governance, and past controversies, with public perception becoming a key battleground.
