The Kano State Police Command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the reported beheading of a minor, Mohammed Saidu, allegedly by an Almajiri (Qur’anic pupil) in Kanwa village, located in the Madobi Local Government Area.
This is contained in a statement issued by the state commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, on Friday.
The six-year-old minor Saidu was reportedly killed by an Almajiri known as Abdullahi, aged 16.
According to the statement, Abdullahi who hailed from Zamfara State,was sighted at Kanwa village by a good Samaritan while in possession of a blood-stained knife strongly suspected to be human blood.
“The suspect was then taken to the house of the village head to prevent him from being lynched.

“In spite of efforts by the village head, an angry mob overwhelmed him, descended on the suspect and inflicted serious injuries on him,” the commissioner added.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police swiftly responded, and the suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that he disposed of the victim’s head in a latrine pit near the primary school.
“He said the suspect was taken to the Kwankwaso Cottage Hospital but died while receiving treatment.
The severed body and the head of the victim were moved to the hospital for examination and confirmation, and later released to his relatives for burial,”Gumel added.
