KDSG inducts newly employed teachers, urges hard work

Kaduna State Government on Monday inducted its newly employed teachers and urged them to be hardworking and dedicated to their duties.
Declaring open the induction in Kaduna, the Deputy Governor of the state, Hajiya Sabuwa Balarabe, said the employment of the teachers showed the administration’s commitment towards reducing unemployment in the state.
Represented by Dr Shehu Makarfi, the state’s Commissioner of Education, Balarabe said the recruitment was also to improve the standard of education in the state level.
She said: “Education in Kaduna state will continue to remain top priority for government and several efforts have been made to carry out meaningful reforms in the sector,’’ she said.
“We are doing this through transforming our educational system like training and retraining programmes for teachers with the view to ensuring that Kaduna state produces learners who can compete with others globally.”
The deputy governor commended the new teachers for being among the successful applicants for the job.
She urged them to reciprocate the gesture by supporting government’s efforts toward transforming the sector and closing the gap in teacher-student ratio.
“The induction course today is to broaden your scope and equip you to understand the contract you are about to sign.
“l urge you to approach the training with keen interest and strong passion to learn new ideas and knowledge that will help you in your profession,” she added.
The deputy governor warned them against unruly and unprofessional acts when deployed to their duty stations.
Balarabe said that appropriate action would be taken against any of them found wanting in performing their duties, in accordance with the public service rule.
“I want to assure you that government will ensure your welfare, guarantee your promotion as at when due and your regular training will be vigorously pursued,’’ she said.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Kaduna Teachers Service Board, Alhaji Adamu Makadi, charged the teachers to be professional and dedicated in discharging their duties.
He thanked the state government for adding value to the teaching profession in the state and creating the enabling environment for teaching to take place.
