The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo SAN, has renewed battle for the control of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State with the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege. Keyamo and Omo-Agege have been at loggerhead before the ward, local and state congresses of the APC in Delta State, as in other states of the federation. The impasse has remained unabated over the control of the party in the state. Both political leaders have been using the federal might at their disposal to fight each other.

Keyamo and some APC Council of Leaders in Delta State has constituted a parallel 36-member executive in Delta State after the inauguration of the APC executive comprising of 35 members in the State, about two weeks ago.

The Omo-Agege group had held its state congress in Asaba on October 16, where Omeni Sobotie, a former PDP member, won the State Chairman, including 34 other new members of the state executive.

The Council of Leaders at the weekend released a list of 36 members of a parallel executive of the APC in Delta State.

The Council of Leaders led by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, in a statement identified 36 members of a parallel state executive in Delta State. Some of the members include Silas Buowe – Chairman; Elvis Ayomanor – Deputy Chairman; and Chidi Okonji – Secretary; etc.

The Council of Leaders in the statement emphasized that the emergence of the parallel structure became necessary because of the considerations of diverse interests within the party and wider consultation with other stakeholders in the state. The Council maintained that the 36 members of the parallel state executive will work with the existing Local Government and Ward executives already established.

The APC Council of Leaders denied awareness of some party leaders who declined to be part of the arrangement of the Council set up by the APC Congress and Extraordinary Conversation Planning Committee. The Council berated such party members for choosing to associate with a one-man-business, coordinated by Omo-Agege, the Deputy Senate President. The Council admonished such members to have a rethink and be part of the legal structure of the APC in Delta State.
