Kogi State House of Assembly has called on the Federal Government to urgently rehabilitate the Kabba-Mopa-Amuro-Isanlu-Egbe road to alleviate the suffering of motorists.

The Assembly made the call in a resolution at its Wednesday plenary following the adoption of a motion sponsored by Musa Jimoh (APC-Yagba-East), Aderonke Aro (APC-Yagba West) and Ademola Bello (APC-Mopa-Amuro).

Presenting the motion on behalf of the trio, Jimoh said the road was constructed in 1972 and was no longer motorable.

Musa said motorists were going through harrowing experience plying the road, and that a lot of money had heen wasted by individuals to patch portions of the road.

The lawmaker lamented that a part of Yagbaland would soon be cut off if urgent steps were not taken to rehabilitate the road.

He urged the state government to take proactive action in rehabilitating the road.

Jimoh also urged that a letter be written to National Assembly members from Kogi State to lobby the Federal Government to intervene and fix the road to discourage rural-urban migration.

Seconding the motion, Alhaji Isah Umar (APC-Lokoja I), said the road had been in a terrible state with hoodlums taking advantage of its deplorable condition to perpetrate crime.

Daniyan Ranyi (APC-Bassa) supporting the motion, said he felt the pains of the people and travellers on the road, hence the need for government to fix the road or provide.

Speaker of the House, Prince Matthew Kolawole, in his ruling, asked the Clerk, Alhaji Ibrahim Amoka, to send a letter the National Assembly members from Kogi to lobby for the rehabilitation of the road.

Kolawole directed that another letter be written to Director General of Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) on the need for timely intervention and adopted the motion following majority voice votes.
