Kwara political appointees back AbdulRazaq for second term.
Political stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara have expressed their support for the re-election of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Speaking with journalists after a stakeholders meeting in Ilorin on Thursday, the convener of the meeting and Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Community Intervention, Mr Kayode Oyin-Zubair, said they unanimously endorsed the governor based on his developmental activities.
“As his foot soldiers, we have endorsed the governor in all the local government areas of the state.
“We are urging the people to accept him and allow him get second term so that the good work in Kwara can continue in the areas of water provision, employment generation, etc.
“This meeting aims to galvanise support for the governor for his current term and the next term starting in 2023,’’ he said.
Oyin-Zubair said that it was part of series of activities that would be rounded up with a jamboree involving everyone in Ifelodun local government area to appreciate AbdulRazaq for what he has done for us in this area.
“A number of water works have been repaired, roads tarred and rehabilitated and many of us are in political offices, just as schools have been newly built or reconstructed.
“So, we want support for him so that we can enjoy more,’’ Zubair said.
The governor’s aide, who said that every stakeholder in the area is involved in the project, urged the people to uphold party unity among themselves to achieve desired success.
Alhaji Abdullateef Quadri, the APC Chairman in the area, also drummed support for the governor, saying there was need to reciprocate the AbdulRazaq’s efforts based on his developmental activities in the area since the last three years.
“We have never had it so good in the past 16 years. So, we should reciprocate that and ensure that he gets second term, making sure that he gets victory in all the 18 wards of the local government area,’’ he appealed.
The party chairman, who pledged to work on party unity amongst the people, said that crisis was usually common within any reigning and ruling party, “because everyone wishes to be part of government and thus the scramble for political positions’’.
“That’s the situation in the APC. However, every matter is being resolved amicably,’’ he said.
