Detained DCP Abba Kyari has stated his reason for dragging the federal government to a federal high court over his continued detention in the NDLEA custody.
In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, Kyari, embroiled in a drug scandal, prayed the court to not only release him, but grant him liberal bail conditions because of his health condition.
In an ex parte application argued by his counsel, Cynthia Ikena, Kyari claimed to be suffering from chronic diabetes threatening his life and, therefore, needed urgent medical attention.
But presiding Justice Inyang Ekwo on Monday refused to grant his request.
He rather ordered Kyari to put the respondent on notice, and serve all processes he filed on the federal government.
Justice Ekwo held that all the averments and allegations made against the federal government were so weighty that the court must give the government the opportunity to hear from it before taking any step.
He then adjourned the next court appearance to Thursday.
