Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong has scheduled to meet with the Nigeria Labour Congress today, Monday, aimed at averting the planned indefinite strike.

Recall that the NLC is planning a total strike action that will completely shut down the country owing to the removal of the fuel subsidy that has caused untold hardship to the Masses.

To ensure that does not happen, Lalong has invited the leadership of the union to dialogue with them to see reasons not to embark on the industrial action.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Information Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr. Olajide Oshundun, and a copy made available to our correspondent through the Media Aide of the Minister, Dr. Simon Makut Machan, the Minister said: “I have directed the Department of Trade Unions Services and Industrial Relations to convene a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

“The administration of President Bola Tinubu will always engage the organised labour and respond to its concerns after due consultation and negotiations in order to guarantee industrial harmony which is critical to the attainment of the Renewed Hope Agenda”, the statement reads.
