Lagos Commissioner, George emphasizes need for optimal output from workers

Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, has urged civil servants to stay committed and work smartly to achieve greater success.

Mr. George stated this on Tuesday in his first meeting with staff of the Office of Public Private Partnerships where he was Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on PPP before his new appointment as Honourable Commissioner.

He emphasised the need for optimal output from workers so that Lagos will continue to excel.

Harping on the strategic role of the agency, George said, “The PPP is a very critical sector and it requires a lot of reviews. Therefore, it cannot be business as usual. We must continue to deliberately reinvent the PPP to enable it play the all-important role for which it was set up. So, let us rededicate ourselves to service and ensure we do our work.”

The Commissioner urged the staff to embrace change whenever the need arises and continue to exhibit the virtues of dedication, hard work and commitment.

Speaking also during the meeting, the Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Legal Matters, Bukola Odoe, enjoined all the staff to make an impact wherever they work.

“Strive to make an impact and make your presence felt wherever you find yourself,” she said.

Extolling the sterling leadership qualities of Mr. George, Mrs Odoe further said: “The Honourable Commissioner’s footprint is just amazing. He has left big shoes here and I personally get inspired by him. We all have to draw inspiration and learn from his wealth of experience and knowledge.”

As an agency of government, the Office of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) is responsible for effective and efficient provision of infrastructure through public and private sector collaboration.

Speaking on behalf of the staff of the Agency, Mrs. Tutu Akintola, Deputy Director (Legal) wished the Commissioner success in his new office, even as she assured that they would not compromise on the solid foundation of hard work which he laid while he was the Special Adviser.

Also, Mrs. O. Akinfala, Assistant Director, Administration and Human Resources added: “I can assure you sir, we will not disappoint. We will continue to do the work as required – efficiently, resourcefully and diligently.”
