…reads riot act to criminally minded members
The Lagos State Chairman of Labour Party Pastor (Mrs.) Dayo Ekong has tasked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to ensure justice is served against the enemies of democracy and rule of law, who burgled the party’s secretariat.
Pastor Ekong made this call at a press briefing on the illegal and forceful burgling of the party’s secretariat located at 59 Oduduwa way GRA Ikeja Lagos on Monday, April 7 2025.
“We therefore call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Exellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), the inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and the Director of the State security to intervene in this matter.
“To ensure that these enemies of democracy and rule of law are investigated, prosecuted and made to pay for this heinous crime against the state.”
The LP Chairman in Lagos who just returned from Abuja on Tuesday having attended the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, further raised the red flag by stating unequivocally that the party won’t accommodate any criminally minded individuals as they make efforts to change the political narrative in the country.
According to her some miscreats,thugs and armed hoodlums break into the party secretariat on Monday with the intention to steal,maim and assassinate the staff and leaders of the party.
“Group of debased, morally bankrupt and conscienceless miscreants, thugs and armed hoodlums led by one Mr Rasheed Bamishe illegally and forcefully gained entrance into the premises of the state secretariat of our great party (Labour Party).
“They robbed and vandalized the entire offices of the chairman,secretary and other principal officers of the party.
“Destroyed all the furniture and fittings in the whole place, carted away valuable properties worth hundreds of millions of naira belonging to the party, which they could not destroy and stole all the local and foreign currencies left in the offices.

“They also took away all the sensitive files and documents stored in the file cabinets after forcing them open.
“They inflicted bodily harm and serious injuries on the dedicated staff of the party who they met on ground that fateful morning.
“Thankfully they (injured staff) are responding positively to medical treatment.”
Ekong however, stated that the attack was aided by some highly placed individuals within the party and four people were injured in the process.
“Information at our disposal has it that this dastardly act was executed with the active support, sponsorship and approval of some highly placed individuals within the Labour party especially in Lagos state. Their identities will be unveiled at the appropriate time.
“Labour Party is not factionalised. I want the police to do their job, I will not intervene. We are saying that a new Nigeria is possible. Is this how to go?
“I have a solid pedigree, the leadership in labour party is intact, distractions and obstacles will not detar us. A new Nigeria of our collective dreams must be enthroned through LP.”
The LP Secretary of Lagos Chief Sam Okpala added that the perpetrators of the heinous crime can never get away with it. “They have awoken the sleeping lion and they will get what they have bargained for.
