The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the acclaimed disqualification of their senatorial, federal house of representatives and state house of assembly candidates by INEC was unfounded and clearly far from the truth.

The party rather urged the said candidates in the 2023 general election to double efforts in their campaigns for votes and to never give in to distractions.

This was asserted in a statement signed by the party’s state Publicity Secretary Hon. Hakeem Amode on Monday 7th November 2022, titled; “Lagos 2023: Successful Security Screening of PDP House of Assembly Candidates Put To Rest Claims Of Naysayers.”

Amode directly reacting to the rumour making the rounds that certain number of PDP candidates were disqualified by the electoral umpire INEC, rather urged their candidates who were successfully screened by the state security agencies, to press on vigorously in their bid to canvass for votes.
He enjoined, “all the candidates to see their success at the screening as a call to double up their campaign in their domain towards mobilizing eligible voters to the polls and to strengthen their campaign team to preach the gospel of better governance under the banner of our party to the people of the state.”

“We are proud of your impeccable character and unimpeachable Integrity which we believe earned you victory in the primary elections and will also enhance your winning at the general elections.

“Your successful clearance has further cleared the air and put a lie to the fake news making the rounds in social media that a certain number of our party candidates were disqualified by the electoral umpire,” the statement read.

Amode added in the statement that the leadership of the party in the state is working hard “to ensure that the party leverages its acceptance by the electorates, populace as an alternative to the current clueless APC administration and efforts are being made to ensure that the votes of the people counts and PDP is voted to form government in Lagos state come May 2023.”
