The Lagos State Chairman of Sherriff’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Segun Adewale, joined his principal in congratulating Senator Ahmed Markafi on the victory at the Supreme Court, Abuja, on Wednesday.

Adewale remarked that the victory was a call to reconciliation towards building a formidable PDP.

Following the Supreme Court judgment of Wednesday, which laid to rest the leadership tussle that has rocked the Peoples Democratic Party in the last 14 months,

Adewale, in a statement in Lagos, observed that Nigeria’s nascent democracy is being tested and victory belongs to all PDP members.

“I have always said that despite the crisis in our party in the last 14 months, our party is all about the interest of the people. Our party remains the hope of Nigerians and the Supreme Court today has affirmed our belief in the rule of law,” he remarked.

Otunba Segun Adewale affirmed his steadfast belief in the PDP. “The verdict of the Supreme Court is to me a ‘no victor, no vanquished’ situation. It is a victory for democracy and for the Nigerian people. The fact that this great party stood through this most difficult and challenging times with the preponderance of its members and structures across the country still intact speaks volumes of the strong ideology that binds us together as a family,” he declared.

Adewale further bemoaned that though some members in Lagos betrayed the party at the thick of the crisis but his team remained faithful to the party. He appreciated his followers for their loyalty and steadfastness without which the party would not have fielded any candidate for the forthcoming local government elections come July 22.

“We are not part of those who moved to APDA, Labour party, or Accord. We are here at the party secretariat and await further instructions from the National Chairman. We are ready to accommodate those who left with the aim of building a virile opposition for the ruling party. Our party will rescue power from the misrule of APC” Adewale assures.

Adewale maintained: “our party will now move faster and further into rescuing Nigerians from the clog of All Progressive Congress (APC) lack of focus, infighting and poor governance.”
