The Lagos State Police Command has announced a total restriction of vehicular movement across the state from 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Lagos Local Government Elections.

The restriction, which applies to all roads and inland waterways within Lagos State, is aimed at ensuring a safe and secure electoral process, according to a statement issued by the Command.

All forms of transportation — private, commercial, and public — will be restricted during the specified period. The lockdown extends to both land and water transport networks within Lagos State.

Prohibition of Armed Escorts and Unauthorized Security Agencies:

The police warned that armed escorts accompanying politicians or VIPs and quasi-security outfits are banned from participating in election-day activities. No state-owned security agency is authorized to provide election-related security, in line with provisions of the Electoral Act.

Duly accredited officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC)

Accredited election observers and media personnel on official election duty

All exempted individuals must be properly identified and display LASIEC-issued accreditation tags at all times.

The Command issued a stern warning to miscreants, thugs, and political enforcers to steer clear of polling units, collation centers, and all official election locations.

“The Command will not hesitate to take decisive legal action against any individual or group found attempting to disrupt the election,” the statement warned.

The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring a peaceful, credible, and violence-free election, calling on all stakeholders to cooperate fully with law enforcement officers during the exercise.
