The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan to accommodate the maiden edition of the 10-kilometer Capital City Race, which will take place on Saturday, November 23.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a statement issued on Friday by Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, the Ministry’s Deputy Director of Public Affairs.

According to Osiyemi, the race will run from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m., and several major roads will be affected during this period.

Key routes to be partially closed include the stretch from Shoprite Alausa Ikeja, proceeding along Billings Way to Kudirat Abiola Way, Opebi Link Bridge, and Opebi Glo Tower inward Allen Avenue, and Allen Junction.

Additionally, other roads that will experience closures include those around GTBank on Adeniyi Jones, the AP Filling Station on Oba Akran Avenue, and the Samsung Authorized Service Centre to the Police College Sports Secretariat/Gym.

As a result, all junctions and intersections from Shoprite Alausa Ikeja to the destination (Police College Sports Secretariat/Gym) will be blocked.

The traffic diversions will be managed by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, who will be stationed at the barriers to ensure road users do not access the main race corridor.

Osiyemi urged motorists to be patient during the event and reassured that affected junctions would be intermittently reopened as the race progresses.
