The Lagos State Taskforce has successfully apprehended at least 25 suspected criminals who were terrorizing motorists and residents along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The operation, aimed at eradicating criminal activities in the area, followed numerous complaints from concerned citizens.
The taskforce conducted a comprehensive operation across key locations, including Chisco Roundabout, Elegushi, Ikate Roundabout, and Marwa Bus Stop.
Residents had reported a surge in criminal activities, particularly during rush hour, with hoodlums ambushing unsuspecting victims at various points along the expressway.
Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
He stated, “We cannot allow these criminal elements to hold our people hostage.
The State Government remains steadfast in its resolve to protect lives and property.”
Residents praised the taskforce’s efforts, recognizing that the operation aligns with the State Government’s THEMES’ PLUS Agenda to restore law and order in the Lekki-Epe Expressway and the entire metropolis.

Akerele disclosed that the taskforce had conducted initial surveillance in the area and discovered that the criminals were using pedestrian bridges to spot broken-down vehicles and target their occupants.
He assured residents that these activities have been effectively curbed.
The taskforce urged motorists and residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
Akerele reiterated the agency’s commitment to ongoing surveillance and operations aimed at safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
