Let the Bible reach unreached communities, BSN tells churches.

 

The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has charged Churches in Nigeria to take ownership of the production and distribution of the Holy Book to enable it reach the unreached communities.

The President of BSN, Bishop Olubunmi Timothy-Banwo, gave the charge at a one-day Christian Leadership Summit in Lagos on Thursday.

The News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos reports that the event themed, : “The Holy Bible, Our Reliable Foundation for Maximising Personal and National Well-being” was organised to chart a renewal agenda for BSN.

He said that the mandate of making the scriptures available to all was a divine one that must be accomplished for the growth of the society and the salvation of mankind.

According to him the scripture is the bedrock of the Church and the fulcrum on which the country’s nationhood stands.

“It behoves us to explore the teachings of the scriptures and apply it in the reformation of our drifting nationhood with a view to avoid bad blood, corruption and organised crime.

“Internalising the content of the scriptures as a national marching order will aid in halting subsisting crisis that for some time has enveloped the land.

“God the Creator in varying ways in the scriptures reveal to mankind solutions to societal problems only if we should heed to His directive as encapsulated in the Holy Bible,” he said.

He decried the unabating human carnage by bandits and urged people to assist BSN in its work to ensure repentance of hardened and wicked people who believe that killing others would secure them a place in heaven.

He added that, the words of the scriptures is Jesus Christ made flesh and it dwells among us with the power to disarm battalion of bandits when assimilated.

Also speaking, the BSN General Secretary, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, said that the organisation has translated the scriptures into 26 local Nigerian languages to encourage readership and easy assimilation.

He lamented the high cost of printing materials and logistics for resource persons,

Sanusi urged the organisation’s local and international partners not to relent in their support in ensuring that BSN meets its mandate and obligation to the public.

He added that BSN would welcome donations and grants from the public to support its multiple human oriented projects
