The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has announced a further extension of the deadline for the filing of individual annual income tax returns, shifting it from April 14 to April 21, 2026.
The agency said the decision followed a significant rise in activity on its eTax platform as taxpayers rushed to comply with the previously extended deadline.
In a statement, LIRS expressed appreciation to taxpayers for their continued compliance and commitment to meeting their statutory tax obligations, noting that the additional extension is aimed at ensuring convenience and providing all eligible taxpayers sufficient time to complete their filings successfully.
According to the agency, the move also reflects its commitment to maintaining accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in the tax submission process while accommodating the overwhelming response recorded in recent days.

The Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, reiterated that all income tax returns must be filed strictly through the approved electronic platform, stressing that the LIRS eTax portal remains the only authorized channel for submission.
“Taxpayers are reminded that the filing of annual income tax returns remains a statutory obligation and are encouraged to take advantage of this final extension to fulfil their civic responsibility,” the agency stated.
The official filing platform can be accessed via https://etax.lirs.net.
LIRS also urged taxpayers seeking assistance or clarification to visit any of its offices or reach out through its official communication channels.
