Manchester United’s disappointing start to the season has left them 12th in the Premier League, following a humiliating defeat to Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Despite receiving backing from the club’s hierarchy and financial support in the summer transfer window, manager Erik ten Hag has been unable to turn things around, raising concerns about his future.

After narrowly retaining his job post-FA Cup triumph over Manchester City, Ten Hag’s position looks increasingly precarious.

According to reports, Manchester United have identified Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi as a potential replacement. The Italian manager, known for his tactical expertise, led Inter to five trophies and a Champions League final in 2023.

In addition to Inzaghi, former England boss Gareth Southgate is also considered a leading candidate, with strong backing from sporting director Dan Ashworth.

United’s form in both the Premier League and Europa League has been underwhelming, leaving them just four points above the relegation zone.

Ten Hag’s future now hinges on whether the club can quickly improve its domestic and European performances.
