National Daily can confirm that Manchester United have been hit with yet another transfer challenge.
It is understood that the Red Devils are facing another stumbling block in offloading Harry Maguire this summer after the captain was rewarded with a considerable wage rise.
Maguire represents one of United’s more valuable assets with Tottenham and West Ham United both credited with interest in his services.
So far there have been no clear indications Maguire wants to leave with reports suggesting he will fight for his place next season.
United’s efforts to move him on will also be complicated by his salary demands.
According to The Guardian, Maguire has also been given a wages increase, in line with the rest of the squad after they secured Champions League qualification through their third place finish last season.
Maguire’s increased pay means he must now weigh-up a potential loss of earnings with his first-team prospects.
The former Leicester City star has been warned by England boss Gareth Southgate he will need to be playing consistent first-team football if he is to remain an automatic starter for the national team.
He is captain of an incredible football club so that is a difficult situation,’ Southgate said in June.
‘He will obviously be frustrated not to play as much as he would like but I think he has handled that really well.
‘We have got a few players with a lot going on, really. They have managed to park that brilliantly in their period with us but there is potentially quite a few moves this summer that would be hugely important for their own careers and for us.’
