Popular Nigerian skitmaker Mark Angel has become the subject of intense online controversy following a series of unsettling allegations made by his ex-wife during a viral social media challenge.

The woman participated in the trending “Put a Finger Down” challenge, which prompts users to share personal experiences by lowering a finger for each statement that applies to them.

In a string of videos posted on Tuesday, she recounted what she described as traumatic experiences from a past marriage. Although she did not mention any name, social media users quickly linked the allegations to Mark Angel, citing that he is the only man she has publicly been married to and shares a child with.

Among the claims made, the woman alleged that her former partner pressured her into engaging in a threesome with a stranger on their wedding night.

She said he instructed her to misrepresent the man’s identity to make the situation appear less awkward. She also alleged that the marriage was marked by repeated emotional and psychological abuse.

In another troubling allegation, she said her partner frequently body-shamed her after childbirth, telling her he was no longer attracted to her body and criticising her for stretch marks.

She claimed that the pressure eventually pushed her to undergo cosmetic surgery to “fix” aspects of her body he found uncomfortable.

She also accused him of public humiliation, saying he mocked her cooking skills in front of friends and often belittled her.

Additionally, she alleged that he engaged in inappropriate relationships with other women, including a situation where he reportedly brought a woman into their home under the pretext of friendship. She claimed she later heard intimate sounds coming from another room.

The woman further alleged that her ex-partner prioritized former relationships over their marriage, claiming he would leave the house in the early hours to attend to an ex. She also said he once told her he had a terminal illness and only a few years to live—a claim she says has since proven untrue.

Although the woman did not name her former partner, social media users were quick to connect the allegations to Mark Angel, given the public nature of their past relationship and the fact that they share a child.

As of the time of filing this report, Mark Angel has not issued any public response to the allegations. The claims remain unverified, and neither party has announced any legal action.

Media and legal experts say the incident highlights the growing challenge of managing privacy and public perception in the age of viral social media trends.

A media analyst noted that viral challenges can quickly turn into public trials. “When personal experiences are shared online, they can rapidly be interpreted, reshaped and amplified by audiences. This can create a situation where unverified claims become public narratives,” the analyst said.
