The Kano State Government is set to flag off a mass wedding ceremony for intending couples struggling to consummate their unions but lacking the financial means.
According to the Guardian, the State government through the Hisbah Board Commission has concluded modalities to purchase material needs including clothing, food items, furniture, and other necessities for 1,800 couples selected to benefit from the state government-funded initiative.

Commissioner for Information, Halilu Baba Dantiye confirmed to newsmen that the mass wedding ceremony was part of the state palliative initiative.
He hinted that a plan was underway to unveil the distribution of grains to the less privileged amid criticism on how interventions that were meant to cushion the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy was converted to fund mass wedding.
