Former Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya, known as Mc Oluomo, on Monday dared the Lagos State Police Command and the state government on the restriction of NURTW members from operations at motor parks and garages across the state. He ordered his loyalists to resume sales of tickets to commercial motorists at garages and bus stops after one week of suspension. Mc Oluomo, issuing the directive to his members, instructed them to report to him immediately if they have any encounter with the police.

The Lagos State Police Command had ordered all divisions and commands to be on red alert across the state after the announcement of the suspension of Mc Oluomo last week.

Lagos State Government last week ordered the suspension of activities in all motor parks and garages in the state by NURTW members. The government assigned the state authority on motor parks and garages to take over the responsibilities in the interim.

Mc Oluomo, who indicated that he has withdrawn his membership, including his supporters from the national NURTW after his indefinite suspension, did not disclose the union platform he is resuming operation while on suspension.

Mc Oluomo in a message on Monday to the union’s branches’ chairmen in Lagos, declared that the “members are permitted to go about their day-to-day activities at parks and garages as road transport workers under his leadership.” He added that the members should contact him in the event of any disruption of their activities by the police.
