Medical problems that can be managed by eating sugar cane

Some medical conditions can be managed by eating sugar cane due to some important nutritional values like dietary fibres, carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and some minerals.

Below are a few conditions that sugar cane help prevents or manage if one already has it.

1. Constipation and Gastritis.

Constipation is the inability to pass out faeces with ease, and it occurs when we eat a large amount of food with a low intake of water.

Sugarcane contains 0.5g of dietary fibres which helps to relieve one from constipation. Dietary fibres help to soften the stool by absorbing water from the gut.

Prolonged constipation can lead to haemorrhoids. Dietary fibres also help prevent inflammation of the lining of the stomach.

2. Spina Bifida

Sugar cane contains about 44.53μg of folate (vitamin B9), folate is an essential component that is needed in higher quantities by pregnant women and menstruating women.

Folate is very important in the healthy growth and development of the spinal cord and brain of a foetus( A growing child). If a pregnant woman lacks this vitamin it may lead to spina bifida(failure of the neural tube to close) in which the child is born with an open vertebrae column.

Folate is also important in the production of haemoglobin ( a component of red blood cells) which is needed by menstruating women to help compensate for the lost blood.

3. Kidney Diseases.

Sugarcane acts as a natural diuretics(A substance that promotes the excretion of urine through its effects on kidney function) which helps to treat some common kidney problems like urinary tract infections, kidney stones etc.4. Liver Related problems like Jaundice.

Sugar cane is known to keep the liver in a good condition and also help to solve some liver-related problems like jaundice.

Jaundice is a medical condition in which there is a high amount of bilirubin found in the blood due to diseases of the liver. It is characterized by yellowish of the sclera, mucous membrane of the mouth and skin

5. Diabetes Mellitus.

Sugarcane contains a low glycemic index and foods that have a low glycemic index are recommended to people who are suffering from diabetes Mellitus.
