Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply on Saturday as Iran reportedly launched missile attacks targeting United States military bases in Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Kuwait.
The latest development follows recent strikes on Iranian territory by Israel and the United States, marking a significant intensification of hostilities in the region.
According to Al Jazeera, multiple explosions were reported across parts of the Gulf as Iran responded to the joint Israeli-American offensive.
The broadcaster said Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE swiftly shut down their airspace amid fears of further attacks.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that one of the incoming Iranian missiles was intercepted by the country’s Patriot air defence system.

The interception reportedly prevented damage to key installations, although authorities maintained heightened alert levels across the country.

The 5th Fleet, headquartered in Manama, plays a critical role in safeguarding maritime security across the Gulf region.
Meanwhile, the Reuters reported that a loud explosion was heard in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, raising concerns about the extent of the missile campaign and possible impacts on civilian and military infrastructure.
Kuwait also experienced explosions, prompting authorities to activate emergency protocols and temporarily close national airspace.
No immediate reports of casualties or extensive damage were confirmed at the time of filing this report.
