Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Wizkid has publicly criticized veteran musician 2Baba following comments that positioned Burna Boy ahead of him on the global stage.
The controversy arose after 2Baba, during a recent interview with Seun Okinbaloye, discussed Nigeria’s so-called “Big 3” – Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy – widely regarded as the country’s most dominant musical exports.
When asked who he considers the top Nigerian artist globally, 2Baba named Burna Boy as number one.
Reacting to the remarks, Wizkid took to Snapchat to express his displeasure, referring to 2Baba as an “old man” and questioning his authority to comment on music.
“At least make peace with your family first before having opinions about music. Old man,” Wizkid wrote. He added a warning to 2Baba: “I’m never letting it slack in 2026.”
The feud rekindles debates within the Nigerian music industry about dominance on the international stage. Wizkid had earlier declared himself the country’s number one Afrobeat star, sparking conversations among fans and industry insiders about the hierarchy of Nigerian music exports.

Entertainment analyst Chinedu Okeke said the exchange highlights the competitive and sometimes contentious nature of the Afrobeat scene.
“In Nigeria’s music industry, public disagreements among top artists are common, particularly when it comes to international recognition. While it may appear personal, it also reflects fans’ expectations and the pressure on artists to maintain global relevance,” Okeke explained.
Industry observers note that while all three artists – Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido – enjoy substantial global followings, these debates often fuel publicity, streaming numbers, and fan engagement.
As the conversation continues on social media, many fans have weighed in, taking sides in the ongoing discussion about who truly leads Nigeria’s global music exports.
