More than 13,000 APC members in Zonkwa, Kadua, defected to the PDP on Saturday.
Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Hon. Felix Hassan Hyat described the defection as symbolic and historical.
According to him, the only PDP stronghold in the entire north-west is in Southern Kaduna which the ruling APC has deprived of infrastructure and security.
Kaduna south, where the members defected, is largely a Christian-dominated area of the state.
Like it is at the national level, the Kaduna APC under Gov. Nasir El Rufai has aggrieved members who didn’t like the Muslim-Muslim ticket, represented by Ubas Sani and Hadiza Balarabe, which the state party is fielding.
The PDP National Youth Leader, Hon. Mohammed Kadede, said the new members took a wise decision.
According to him, the PDP is the party that Nigerians need in 2023, to rescue them from the APC’s regime.
Treasurer of the opposition party, North-West, Hon. Rabiu Bakori, formally received the new members on behalf of the North-West Zonal PDP Chairman, Sen. Hayyatu Gwarzo, in Zonkwa.
Bakori said the PDP must win the 2023 elections, and every member must put in their best.
