Dani Alves was an enigmatic sensation left back player for Barcelona and Brazil when he was hot cake. He was really, at that time, a sizzling hot cake. Donning the jersey numbers 2, 22 and later 6 for Spanish champions, the Brazillian showed dexterity and rugged skills that produced long range shots that hit the back of the net. He was a fighter and for a team that hardly go for the toughest defenders, Dani was in a class of his own.
However, his time soon came to an end, few years after Coach Pep Guardiola, who brought him from Sevilla, left the club. Now he does his thing for Juventus: But he has been making scathing comments about Barcelona FC. From tongue-lashing his former playmates for boycotting the Ballon D’or show, to commenting negatively about his exit and recently trying patronize Cristiano Ronaldo. Well these are my thoughts:
  1. Dani Alves stop being a Danny. We know you are tougher than these emotional tantrums.
  2. Players will come and go, same for coaches and managers, same for the Xavis and Ronaldinhos of this world. Deal with it
  3. For 8 seasons we showed you love, that’s why you were able to win along with the team.
  4. You became unfit to play for the team. Naturally by age all drop of form. Yet the coaches, for respect, didn’t (couldn’t) do the needful. Which was to loan or sell you.
  5. Free transfer was US respecting and showing you love. As good as you were, you needed to move forward. Which you did.
  6. “Bros forget that thing…the dude dey talk him mind. They let him go because of a fringe player like Sergi Roberto…Just imagine. They gave Luis Enrique free hand..wetin dey happen at the end…You know the rest of the story. Our midfield is far gone,MSN;shadow of themselves and what about our defence…noting to write home about. Just watch yesterday match and see the way Suarez dey shout for Andre Gomes…if them give me chance I go punch Enrique…I mean am deep down!”  Says a Facebook friend of mine.
  7. “Guy we all saw how toothless Dani Alves was at the tail end of his 8year stint with us. Lucho has his issues…we will deal with that separately. All I am saying is players come and go…It was the end for Dani Alves. The same way these defenders we have today Pique and co, if we send them packing tomorrow…should they come back crying foul like Dani?” I answered my Facebook friend.
  8. “But he’s far better than Sergi Roberto” he continued.
  9. “Sergi Roberto! Well for what Dani Alves was, yes. However at some point he too became a shadow and was highly predictable. Sergi Roberto was the UTILITY savior at the beck and call of Lucho. He, naturally a midfielder, adapted effectively to various positions when duty called. He attacked when MSN wasn’t complete, he stood in for Iniesta when duty called, he didn’t do too poorly replacing Dani Alves” I responded.
  10. Common Dani, you had nothing but love from FC Barcelona. Now at Juventus, we (Barcelona fans) still follow your progress. Be grateful, be contented!
