The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the abduction of two female students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ogun.

At a news conference in Abeokuta on Tuesday, the association called on the state government to urgently rescue the students.

The state Chairman of NANS, Mr Damilola Simeon, who addressed the conference, described the abduction  as unfortunate, and called for end to insecurity.

He appealed to the police to come to the aid of the students and ensure their release.

“We call on the state government as a responsible and responsive government to speedily  rescue the victims.

“We are not happy with the situation.

“We use this medium to appeal to our governments to protect us and make our campuses safe,” he said.

He warned that failure  to secure the release of the abducted students within four days would lead to shutdown of academic activities in tertiary institutions  in Ogun.

The NANS chairman urged traditional rulers in the state  to assist the government in  efforts to rescue the students.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that gunmen, on Sunday night, kidnapped two female students of OOU in Ayetoro Campus in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun.
