NCPC boss encourages retirees to depend more on God.
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam has admonished retirees to keep depending on God to enjoy their retirement.
Pam made this known in a statement in Abuja on Thursday by Christiana Ugochukwu, the Principal Information Officer, NCPC.
Pam was admonishing Sir Peter Okhueleigbe, the NCPC Director of Special Duties, who was retiring from the commission.
He urged retirees to allow God to take control as they held on to Him, adding “it is only God who will guarantee good protection.”
Pam described Okhueleigbe as a strong man, bold, expressive and intelligent.
“He is one of the staff that approached me when I became the executive secretary to brief me on the happenings in the commission.
“The commission has had three executive secretaries in which Okhueleigbe happened to serve under them.
“He has passed through the good and difficult times under different chief executives, however, I am overwhelmed because that has made him a strong person he is today.’’
Pam urged Okhueleigbe to be thankful to God for finishing well and healthy.
He said that most people would want to be in his shoes but they might not be very lucky and fortunate like him to see this day.
Also, Mr Barnabas Ali, the Director of Administration, had earlier thanked all the staff for coming out to celebrate with the retired director.
“Okhueleigbe is a successful man in his field as a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountants; we appreciate him for his contributions in his department. I believe the commission has benefited from his wisdom.
Okhueleigbe in his response, thanked God for giving him good health to successfully retire from service and thanked all who worked with him throughout his active years in the commission.
He also thanked Pam for his style of leadership, urging all members of staff of the commission to continue to work in peace as one family.
Okhueleigbe served the NCPC in different capacities – he was once the Zonal Coordinator of the commission in the South East Zonal office, Enugu.
He was the Head of Account and Finance Department and was also the Director of Special Duties until his retirement.
