The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has launched a skills and vocational training program for 2,156 youth and women in Bauchi State.
The program, inaugurated on Friday, is part of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative aimed at tackling unemployment across the country.
The Director-General of the NDE, Silas Agara, who was represented by Jamila Adamu, the NDE Coordinator in Bauchi, said the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to restructuring the agency to create more job opportunities.
Agara explained that the participants would be trained in 30 different trades under Vocational Skills Development, Small Scale Enterprises, Rural Employment Promotion, and Special Public Works.
The NDE’s initiative is targeting 93,731 unskilled and unemployed individuals nationwide, with a strong focus on inclusivity.
The program is designed for a broad range of participants, including school leavers, dropouts, women, graduates, retirees, and persons with special needs.

Following the training, many beneficiaries will receive tools, equipment, and startup capital to help them become entrepreneurs.
Others who cannot be resettled will be connected with credit institutions for further assistance.
In line with current global trends, 40,000 participants will be trained in ICT and digital skills, helping them become more competitive in the global job market.
One of the trainees, Isa Garba, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to fully dedicate himself to the program.
