The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled a social media–driven drug distribution network operating in Lagos, where illicit substances were packaged as imported Christmas cookies and snacks.
Two key suspects, Deji Adesanya and Olubiyi Majekodunmi, were arrested after operatives raided their hideout in the Ikate area of Lekki.
According to NDLEA, the syndicate imported consignments of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, and concealed the drugs in colourful designer sachets branded with images of cookies and snacks.
Acting on intelligence, operatives stormed an apartment on Ojulari Street, Ikate, on Saturday, 22 November 2025, recovering a large quantity of the packaging materials and 5kg of Loud before taking the duo into custody.
In a separate Lagos operation on Thursday, 27 November, NDLEA officers arrested 38-year-old kingpin Philip Ucheka while he was receiving 110 pouches of Canadian Loud weighing 55.6kg in Ladipo, Mushin. Three delivery vehicles were seized during the arrest.
At a courier company, operatives intercepted 100 grams of Loud concealed inside a teddy bear imported from Thailand.
The following day, 548 tramadol capsules hidden in Vitamin C and magnesium bottles en route to the UK were seized at another logistics facility.
Large-Scale Seizures Across Oyo, Ondo, Kogi, Lagos, Kano, Bauchi, Kaduna, and the FCT
A raid on Ipe Forest in Akoko South-East on Monday, 24 November led to the seizure of 3,077kg of skunk and the arrest of seven suspects.
Along the Okene–Lokoja highway, officers arrested Anthony Sylvester, 49, with 649kg of skunk on Wednesday, 26 November.
At Ashipa near the Seme border, operatives seized 487 blocks of skunk weighing 243.5kg and arrested Abubakar Shuaibu, 33, on Friday, 28 November.
On the Zaria–Kano road, 47-year-old Tsalha Alasan was arrested with 137kg of skunk on Monday, 24 November.
NDLEA operatives arrested three suspects—Godspower Appeal, Ernest Upong, and Godday Chukwudi—with 322 blocks of skunk (209kg) at Fanshanu village, Toro LGA. A black Toyota Highlander used for transport was also recovered.
On the Abuja–Jos highway, John Ekojo, 51, was found transporting 210.15kg of skunk on Saturday, 29 November.
A couple, Abdullahi and Jamila Abdullahi, were arrested on the Abuja–Kaduna highway with 725 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition concealed in a sack of maize.
At the Abuja–Kaduna tollgate, 20-year-old Awwal Sabiu was caught with 400 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition on Friday, 28 November.
NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.) praised officers across Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Kogi, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Seme for their coordinated efforts. He urged all formations to maintain the agency’s balanced and robust approach to drug control.
