The Osun State University, UNIOSUN, has described as false, mischievous and without foundation, information of incidents of kidnapping, sexual assault and murder on its campuses.
Conveying the institution’s management denial of the rumours which was reportedly disseminates through a viral audio message, the UNIOSUN spokesperson, Ademola Adesoji, in a statement on Sunday revealed that the university had out in place robust security measures to protect its student, staff and visitors.
Adesoji who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to safety revealed that no repeated cases of security breach had been made in the campuses.
He also assured parents, staff, student ta and all UNIOSUN stakeholders that the university had taken necessary measures to maintain security.
“We assure all parents, staff, students, and stakeholders that we are taking all necessary measures to maintain security.
There have been no reported cases of kidnapping, rape, or murder on university premises.
“While we understand that such rumors can cause concern, we want to emphasize that the safety and well-being of our university community are our top priorities.
There is no case of robbery or banditry in our Osogbo Campus.
Our security team is extensively trained and works in close collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, including the police, Amotekun, DSS, and civil defense forces.
“These security personnel regularly patrol the university campus, halls of residence, and surrounding areas to ensure a safe and secure environment.”

He also urged the university community to avoid spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.
“We encourage everyone to remain calm and refrain from spreading false rumors.
The university management is dedicated to maintaining a safe environment, and we are continuously enhancing our security measures.
“If you have any concerns or information related to security, please contact our security team or the university administration directly.
“Osun State University remains a safe and secure place for all its members and will continue to work diligently to maintain this standard,” he emphasized.
