As global efforts intensify toward building a more inclusive and interconnected digital future, ITREALMS Media Group has announced the 2026 edition of its flagship Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum on Internet Governance for Development (IG4D).

The annual forum, scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Welcome Centre Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos, will convene policymakers, technology innovators, regulators, civil society organisations, and industry stakeholders under the theme: “Sustaining WSIS Vision with Multistakeholder Synergy in Nigeria.”

According to the organisers, this year’s theme aligns with the United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/80/173, which reaffirmed the vision of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

The resolution underscores the need for inclusive digital transformation, universal connectivity, and stronger collaboration among stakeholders to ensure no one is left behind in the evolving digital landscape.

The 2026 edition of the Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum (NDSF) is expected to focus on bridging Nigeria’s digital divide by promoting affordable access to digital technologies and encouraging increased investment in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

Speaking ahead of the event, the Group Executive Editor and Lead Consulting Strategist at ITREALMS Media, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, stressed the importance of collective responsibility in sustaining Nigeria’s digital economy.

“Building an inclusive, open, and secure digital space remains paramount,” Nweke said. “Beyond expanding connectivity, we must ensure that our digital ecosystem safeguards children online and remains resilient against emerging global threats. The 2026 NDSF will serve as a catalyst for the multistakeholder synergy required to achieve these objectives.”

He noted that the forum would provide a strategic platform for dialogue on strengthening Nigeria’s digital governance architecture, while reinforcing the country’s commitment to the WSIS agenda.

Organisers disclosed that the 2026 forum will feature in-depth discussions on emerging technologies and critical infrastructure. Among the focal points are the adoption of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), strengthening Domain Name System (DNS) security, and advancing the evolution of Digital Public Infrastructure to support public service delivery.

Child Online Protection will also take centre stage, with stakeholders expected to deliberate on practical strategies for creating a safer and more secure internet environment for children and young people.

The forum will further explore how telecommunications networks and satellite technologies can accelerate the “Smart Nigeria” agenda, leveraging innovation to drive national development.

In continuation of its long-standing partnerships, the event is expected to draw active participation from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), among other institutions.

A keynote address titled “Sustaining the WSIS Vision via Telecoms: Driving Multistakeholder Synergy for Nigeria’s Future” is anticipated, with leadership from key regulatory bodies expected to outline strategic priorities for the sector.

Since its inception, the Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum, hosted by DigitalSENSE Africa (DSA)—an ICANN-certified At-Large Structure—has played a leading role in stimulating public discourse on internet governance and promoting awareness of its business and technological benefits.

Over the years, the platform has contributed to shaping national conversations around digital rights, cybersecurity, connectivity expansion, and regulatory best practices.

Organisers have extended invitations to members of the press, ICT stakeholders, academia, civil society groups, and the general public to participate in what they describe as a milestone event aimed at influencing the future trajectory of Nigeria’s digital sovereignty.

The 2026 forum is expected to reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to a collaborative, secure, and innovation-driven digital ecosystem in line with global best practices.
