Nigerian music icon 2Baba has stirred debate online after stating that the country is in a better position today compared to previous years.
Speaking during an interview with Wazobia TV, the artiste, whose real name is Innocent Idibia, expressed optimism about Nigeria’s progress, despite ongoing challenges.
“We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it. It’s still ongoing, but I will continue doing it. I’ll try to make a difference because I know where I stand,” he said.
2Baba also described himself as a “self-appointed ambassador” of Nigeria, noting that he is committed to representing the country positively on the global stage.

“I have personally appointed myself as an ambassador of Nigeria everywhere,” he added.
However, his remarks have drawn mixed reactions from Nigerians, with many critics arguing that his position overlooks persistent issues such as insecurity and economic hardship. Others, however, interpreted his comments as a call for optimism and individual responsibility in nation-building.
The statement has since fueled conversations on social media about the country’s progress and the role of public figures in shaping national narratives.
