Nigerians have widely reacted to the ban of police officers from demanding custom papers and tinted glass permit from drivers.
The Acting Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, issued the directive via his Twitter handle @Princemoye1 asking Nigerians to report defaulters of the directives.
Some Nigerians who reacted via Twitter claimed that it was risky to argue with police officers considering the fact that “they are known for assaulting citizens.”

A tweep, @ChrismilezA said, “You want to tell an officer under a hot sun with a gun in his hand, (not sure if it’s loaded or not) not to check your paper. Quite funny, it will be nice to inform your men properly.”
Another tweep, @iyke_nwabuko, who responded to the news said, “I will drive out tomorrow without my permit, let me just test the authenticity of this post and supposed IGP directives. You will find out the distance between the IGP and his men on the road.”
@RajiHas72211822 said, “Hello CSP @Princemoye1, it is okay to tell motorists what you just stated but it is better to tell your men to take the order and not disturb motorists. On the road, your men tell a different story and act completely the opposite of what you just stated.”
@RealOkakah tweeted, 98 percent of Nigeria Police officers are not on Twitter, sir.”
