NIMC DG Coker-Odusote resumes

The new Director General of the National Identity Management Commission, Bisoye Coker-Odusote, has resumed, in acting capacity, taking over from the outgoing D.G., Aliyu Aziz, who handed over to his successor as President Bola Tinubu ordered him to proceed on retirement leave.

The Head of Corporate Communications of NIMC, Kayode Adegoke, in a statement in Abuja, disclosed that Aliyu Aziz handed over the leadership of NIMC to Bisoye Coker-Odusote, who was appointed by President Tinubu to take over from Aziz at the end of his tenure in November.

The NIMC Head of Corporate Communications highlighted that Aziz was appointed Director General of NIMC on November 23, 2015. He disclosed that the NIMC DG was a pioneer staff of the Commission from 2007 and retired in 2014 as Director of Information technology/ Identity Database, IT/IDD.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, however, appointed Aziz NIMC DG in November 2015, given his track record,  and experience in the industry.

The new NIMC D.G. General Manager/CEO of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA). She was Special Adviser on Technology to Tinubu when he was Governor of Lagos State.

Bisoye Coker-Odusote was Head of Information Technology & Communication at BATELitwin (formerly a subsidiary of Litwin, France), an engineering company working for the Oil and Gas Upstream, Midstream and Downstream Sector.

She was also Special Adviser on Technology to Tinubu when the President was Governor of Lagos State – 1999 to 2003.

Coker-Odusote appointed General Manager/Chief Executive Officer (GM/CEO) of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) in 2021, an agency responsible for regulation of utility infrastructure in the state.

Bisoye was the National Database Project Director for the All Progressives Congress (APC), maintaining the development and implementation of electronic identity database for party members.

Bisoye Coker-Odusote founded the Bibi Coker Foundation, a non-profit organisation, committed to supporting efforts across Nigeria to promote a safe, fair, and quality education for marginalised girls in the country, encouraging more female participation in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) related industry.
