Workers of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST)on Monday morning, October 16, reportedly staged a protest at the head office of the service in Abuja over the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General.

The protesting workers, who shut down the office, said Odeyemi was appointed against their wish and at such cannot be allowed to assume her new role.

Recall that Odeyemi’s appointment was announced last week by Ajuri Ngelale, a Presidential spokesman. She replaces outgoing Postmaster-General, Sunday Adepoju, who was appointed about a year ago by former President Buhari.

Adepoju, an accountant and a former member of the House of Representatives representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency of Oyo State, was expected to serve an initial term of five years.
