Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has reaffirmed the Association’s committed plan to boosting entrepreneurial growth in the Domain Name System (DNS) industry.

He made the remark when thirty students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State and their lecturers paid a visit to NIRA, as part of their academic visit to Lagos.

This is part of the curriculum of the student’s academic year at the 300 level.  The students were exposed to the rudiments of the DNS industry, the business of becoming a Registrar/Reseller as well as NiRA’s policies and operations.

According to Folayan, “NiRA is committed to grooming entrepreneurs in the DNS industry, and does not hesitate exposing Nigerian students to the different areas of the DNS Industry and how they can apply the knowledge gained in and outside the University environment.

“We look forward to more opportunities that will actualize our plans and passion for increasing the quality of Education in Nigeria, which we believe will directly impact on the awareness of the .ng brand. We are pleased that the FUDMA students enjoyed their trip to NiRA and we wish them the best in their academic pursuits”.

He also said that NIRA Academy will be running the .ng Resellers Training for the 29th January 2016.

“The entrepreneurship training,” the NiRA president said, “is open to the first 50 participants who register. The training would be facilitated by the Academy Faculty and some NiRA Accredited Registrars.”

It is a “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) programme. The different Registrars would elaborate on their reseller platforms and affiliate/payment systems.

“You may wish to share the opportunity of becoming a domain name reseller with friends and associates who may not necessarily have the resources to set up and get accredited as a Registrar. NIRA hopes that through this entrepreneurship program, it can push the growth of the .ng brand by promoting our Nigerian identity online and contribute immensely to the nation’s economic growth.

“…We have seen the positive impact that the deregulation of the Telecommunications industry has brought to the country, and we must not miss the opportunity to get more Nigerian businesses online.

“With the dwindling fortunes of oil in the International market, ICT is the sector of choice for generating employment and wealth for the teeming Nigerian population, and we believe NIRA has a crucial role to play in this regard. You are NIRA, let’s do it together!”
