In a tense Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium, Chelsea secured a narrow 1-0 win against Bournemouth, thanks to a late goal from Christopher Nkunku.

The summer signing from RB Leipzig proved to be the difference in a match that saw both teams struggle to break each other down.

Chelsea entered the game hoping to build momentum under new manager Mauricio Pochettino after a mixed start to the season.

However, Bournemouth, under the guidance of Andoni Iraola, were determined to frustrate the visitors, employing a compact defensive strategy that limited Chelsea’s attacking options for much of the match.

Chelsea dominated possession throughout, with Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk making dangerous runs down the wings, but Bournemouth’s disciplined defense, led by Lloyd Kelly and Chris Mepham, kept them at bay.

Despite Chelsea’s control of the ball, clear-cut chances were few and far between.

Nkunku’s introduction late in the second half injected much-needed energy into Chelsea’s forward line.

The French forward capitalized on a defensive lapse by Bournemouth in the 86th minute, slotting home a well-placed low cross from Ben Chilwell. The late winner not only relieved Pochettino but also kept Chelsea’s hopes of securing European football next season alive.

Bournemouth pressed for an equalizer in the dying minutes, but Chelsea’s defense, marshaled by Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi, held firm, ensuring they left the south coast with all three points.

The win lifts Chelsea to mid-table in the Premier League standings, while Bournemouth remain near the relegation zone, still searching for their first win of the season.
