NLC reveals next plan on protest after meeting with President Tinubu

The organised labour on Tuesday after meeting President Bola Tinubu in Aso Rock on Wednesday announced that the Federal Government will be given time to fulfil its promises.National Daily had earlier reported that the NLC and TUC held a protest after the price of fuel moved to N617 from N537.

The unions had given the Federal Government an ultimatum to reverse the increment.

Following the protest on Wednesday, President Tinubu invited NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero and TUC President, Festus Osifo to a meeting at Aso Rock.

At the end of the meeting, Ajaero told the media that the unions would give the government some time.

Ajaero said: “He (President Tinubu) has expressed his position, made some commitment, which were taken side-by-side with what the Senate said, and we’re taking it back to the office with our colleagues to review it and release a document on our next line of action.”

When asked if the NLC would call off its planned protests following the meeting with the president, Mr Ajaero said the union’s leadership would meet on the matter.

“No one person can call it off. That’s why I say we’ll have to go back to the office. So that they will look at it, the excos look at it before they come up. And by tomorrow, the NLC will equally have their NEC meeting, to look at the bigger picture.”

“Once again, we thank Nigerians while we wait for the government to fulfill its own part of the understanding as agreed with His Excellency; the President.” he said
