The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has proceeded to the Supreme Court, seeking the nullification of the judgment of the Court of Appeal, staying the execution of the court’s judgment discharging him.

A counsel to Kanu, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, in a statement, noted that it became pertinent to approach the Supreme Court after a thorough review of the Appeal Court judgement by the defence team led by Mike Ozekhome SAN.

The legal team of Kanu argued the judgement  has no foundation in law or facts and should be set aside by the Supreme Court, saying that Nnamdi Kanu approved the decision to approach the court.

The Court of Appeal had on Friday, upheld the Federal Government’s application for stay of execution of the October 13 judgment which set Kanu free.

Justice Haruna Tsammani also ordered that the result of the ruling be forwarded to the Supreme Court within seven days for expeditious hearing.
