In a landmark move poised to reshape Nigeria’s automotive and energy sectors, Nord Automobiles Limited, the country’s leading indigenous car manufacturer, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with TotalEnergies, one of the world’s foremost multi-energy conglomerates.
The high-profile contract signing ceremony took place on Friday, July 18, 2025, in Lagos, drawing senior executives, automotive industry stakeholders, and energy experts from across Nigeria.
The alliance cements TotalEnergies as Nord’s exclusive lubricant partner, marking a significant shift in the way locally manufactured vehicles will be serviced and maintained.
A New Era for After-Sales and Service Infrastructure
Under the terms of the partnership, TotalEnergies will supply premium-grade engine oils and lubricants to all Nord-authorized service centers nationwide.
More significantly, Nord will integrate its growing aftersales service network with TotalEnergies’ extensive lube bay infrastructure, enabling wider access to certified maintenance for Nord vehicle owners across the country.
Initial rollout of this integration will begin in select pilot locations, with a nationwide expansion planned over the coming months.
The collaboration aims to ensure professional-grade service delivery, ease of access to OEM-standard lubricants, and an enhanced customer experience for Nord’s growing user base.
A Strategic Vision: Driving Nigerian Excellence
In his keynote address, Mr. Oluwatobi Ajayi, Chairman and CEO of Nord Automobiles, described the collaboration as a “strategic alignment” between two brands committed to innovation, quality, and service excellence.

“This partnership with TotalEnergies represents more than just a supply agreement—it is a statement of intent,” Ajayi declared.
“We are combining world-class energy solutions with Nigerian-built automotive engineering to create a seamless ownership and maintenance experience that matches global standards, yet is uniquely tailored for Nigeria.”
Representing TotalEnergies, Mr. Emmanuel Morand-Fehr, Executive Director and Secretary General, praised Nord’s achievements and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting homegrown innovation.
“TotalEnergies is proud to work with Nord, a homegrown brand that has demonstrated that world-class vehicles can be designed and assembled right here in Nigeria,” Morand-Fehr said.
“Together, we will raise the bar for accessibility, trust, and performance for Nigerian motorists.”
Also speaking at the event were Mr. Abdullahi Umar, General Manager, Retail and Cards, and Mr. Daniel Chukwu, Lubricant Business Manager, who outlined how the partnership will offer operational synergy, improve customer experience, and drive deeper market penetration for both brands.
Transformative Impact on Both Brands
For Nord Automobiles, the collaboration significantly boosts its aftersales strategy, ensuring vehicle owners enjoy access to genuine lubricants and trusted service points, regardless of location.
The company’s flagship vehicles, including the Nord A9 SUV and Nord Tusk Pickup, continue to set new standards for durability, design, and performance under African conditions.
For TotalEnergies, the partnership reaffirms its commitment to local enterprise, expands its footprint in the automotive service segment, and underscores its mission to deliver sustainable, innovative solutions across Nigeria’s energy value chain.
The event concluded with a networking session and business luncheon, where stakeholders reaffirmed confidence in the partnership’s potential to redefine the customer journey for Nigerian motorists.
