South Korean defence minister has said that North Korean soldiers have joined Russian troops in fighting Ukraine.

The defence minister, Kim Yong-hyun, accordingly, notified politicians in South Korean that that it was “highly likely” that six North Korean soldiers were killed in a Ukrainian missile strike near Donetsk on October 3, as reported by Ukrainian media last week.

Seoul also holds that north Korea is supplying weapons to Russia to strengthen the war against Ukraine which is backed by the United States (U.S.) and the West.

North Korea, including Russia, however, debunked the claim that Pyongyang  is supplying weapons to Russia for the war in Ukraine.

According to Kim Yong-hyun, “We assess that the occurrence of casualties among North Korean officers and soldiers in Ukraine is highly likely, considering various circumstances.”

Kim maintained that Pyongyang is likely to send more troops to support Russia in fighting Ukraine.

“The issue of deploying regular troops is highly likely due to the mutual agreements that resemble a military alliance between Russia and North Korea,” he stated.
