Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has refuted a purported letter claimed to have been extracted from his acclaimed latest memoirs, describing the document as “fake and mischievous.”

In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo urged the public to disregard the publication.

The former president, who turns 89 on Thursday, March 5, expressed gratitude to friends, well-wishers, and supporters for the outpouring of felicitations ahead of his birthday.

Akinyemi emphasized that the letter circulating in media and online platforms had no basis in Obasanjo’s official memoirs, cautioning readers against being misled by unverified publications.

“Members of the public are urged to treat the purported letter as spurious and not connected to Chief Obasanjo’s official writings,” the statement read.

Obasanjo’s office continues to maintain that only verified publications and official releases from his media team reflect the former president’s views and writings.
