In what seems a psychological warfare between militia groups, the Odua Defenders Union, ODU, has threatened to first attack the Ijaw in Lagos before the Niger Delta Avengers pull off its threat to blow up the state.

“We fought the Ijaws here in Lagos before because of their arrogance and they know we are ready for them,” the group stated in a release signed by its President Rabak Anthony.

The Yoruba militia group said the NDA threat published in all the media, both electronic and print, cannot be taken for granted. “Therefore, the Yoruba are ready to make the first move against the Ijaws in Lagos before their ‘brothers’ will storm Lagos.”

Further describing the NDA threat to Lagos as a slap in the face of the Yoruba, ODU warned against clashes ahead if the Ijaw militants decided to carry out their threat.

About five years ago, the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta   invaded the Atlas Cove in Lagos, killing naval officers guarding tank farms, and bombing oil facilities.

“So, we are not taking this threat without preparation. We are ready, let them make the move.”

But in the meanwhile, ODU is taxing security agents to go after the Avengers, adding that the Yoruba youths are prepared to face them and other Ijaws militants in Lagos.

ODU, a new militia group in the southwest, claims its members spread across the whole region, and can deal with the Niger Deltan militants.

The NDA has claimed responsibility for blowing up installations belonging to two multinationals, including Chevron, in the Niger Delta days ago. And it has issued statements of its intention to advance to Lagos and Abuja.
